Our Evaluation Process

When stock arrives at our facilities it will be place in a separate enclosed area of our 20,000 sq ft warehouse where it will be held to be processed as a complete job solely for you. The will be counted and logged in to keep track of your stock. They will then be taken to our cleaning stations where all labels will be removed as well as any writing on the shell from ink pens to sharpies. Once cleaned, the tapes will go through their first degaussing pass in our warehouse degausser. No tape is allowed to enter the evaluation room without being degaussed here.

Once your tapes enter the evaluation room they will be run through our specially modified RTI tape evaluators. The evaluators do several things. First, they clean the tape leader to leader. The tapes go over 2 saphire blades that loosen dust, dirt, smoke and anything that would cause a temporary drop out. A tissue vacuum system removes this from the tape. At the same time the tape is being degaussed, leader to leader by the machines built in tape heads.

After all this is done the tape is optically scanned. The machine is looking for creases, edge damage and anything that would cause a show stopping dropout. Once finished the machine provide a printout showing what it’s found where the dropouts are on the tape.

Your tapes will be separated into good and bad stock, packaged and return to you.
